A key milestone for the BANKSIA project: the R&T phase is officially complete!

We are now entering the development and commercialization phase of our French-made flight recorder!

At the end of November, we proudly concluded the R&T phase of our BANKSIA project, in the presence of representatives from the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) (Hélène Uninski), our partner FREYSSINET AERO (Arnaud Votié and Ludovic Ferrandi), as well as the SERMA Ingénierie team (Guillaume Roquet and David Marty).

During this meeting, the DGAC confirmed that all technical objectives had been fully achieved and praised the success of our partnership with FREYSSINET AERO.

The BANKSIA R&T project aims to design an ultra-light flight recorder capable of capturing and retrieving data in the event of a crash.

Thanks to its advanced technologies, it combines:

  • Exceptional durability
  • Smart integration of 3K video, audio, and flight data
  • Complete event traceability
  • Resistance to extreme conditions, compliant with the ED-155 standard (shock, crash, and fire)

Its light weight and breakthrough features make it a genuine world first.

This equipment was also awarded at the 2024 Critical Embedded Systems Awards, highlighting its safety and robustness in the most demanding environments.

Soon to be installed as standard equipment on Airbus light helicopters, our flight recorder is establishing itself as a new COTS benchmark for the safety of light aircraft.

A second contract with another major aerospace player is currently being finalized.

SERMA Engineering extends its thanks to the DGAC, France Relance, and NextGeneration EU for their support in funding this ambitious R&T program.
